Over the past couple of months, we viewed many hotels to decide where to hold our special day at. The plan was to have our solemnization outdoors either in a garden area or by the pool, followed by a sit down chinese dinner.
We made appointments with the hotels we had in mind: Hilton, Grand Hyatt, Four Seasons, Conrad, Sheraton and Carlton.
Hilton:
we were not v impressed with Hilton's lobby, many people walking around and its like a shopping centre..also, just before our appointment, a tragic event at Hilton came out in the news which spooked us out: a bridegroom died hours after his wedding night after falling to his death at the hilton..so ermz yeah we didnt have much good vibes abt the hotel after that..
Grand Hyatt:
the pricing was v attractive and i had high hopes cuz i heard the food there is good. But we were kinda disappointed when we saw the ballroom, the ballroom had pillars which would block the view of some of the guests. The carpet looked worn out and old also..
Sheraton:
The hotel wasnt too bad, except the foyer was quite narrow and just adjacent to the other ballroom's foyer. The outdoor garden area for the solemnization was nice, there was a waterfall but it was a little small.
Carlton:
Pretty ok, its currently under renovation. There is a outdoor area for solemnization just outside the ballroom but if it rains, it would need to be held indoors in the ballroom which was what happened to the couple's wedding whom we viewed that day cuz it started to rain. i felt the flower centerpiece on the guests table were small and not very attractive..
Conrad:
We were quite keen on Conrad cuz Wenbin works there and would be easier to coordinate if he was around. But the pool pavilion area is quite stuffy cuz its outdoors so if there is no wind, it would get quite hot. Their main ballroom was v nice, but the min no. of tables is 30 which we def cant hit..
I must say their service is quite good though, we had dinner after that at the hotel with Eunice and Wenbin and the manager came over personally to our table with a fresh plate of oysters after i told the waiter that the oysters didnt taste fresh. Thumbs up for their service!
Four Seasons:
The only hotel which left a deep impression on us was Four Seasons. It was love at first sight..There is a posh atmosphere about the hotel, very luxurious and exclusive feeling.
Crescent Ballroom
They are however, very strict about not adding additional perks to the package. The coordinator was saying that they package was very comprehensive and everything is included (which is true cuz they have free 1 barrel of beer, 1 bottle of wine per table and 2 nights stay in the suite which is the main perks which are a must!) The pricing was also the most expensive so initially we had 2nd thoughts about the place..
However having viewed all the other hotels, we still can't forget Four Seasons. So now, i think we have decided to go ahead with Four Seasons. It is definitely not going to be cheap but we think its worth paying extra$ to make sure we have a great wedding day.
So excited! going to finalize things with the wedding coordinator at FS soon and attend their wedding showcase on 12th Jan 2010. We will be able to view the themes and setup and also taste their food..cant wait! ;)
