Decided to engage a direct contractor (Hoong Fatt Heng Renovation Works) that we found on the Renotalk forum, we are doing only the bare minimum reno: plastering of walls, patching up of holes, electrical wiring, installing of new lights. We got another quote from another contractor and found that the prices quoted by Hoong Fatt Heng are really much lower.
I was initially a little worried the contractor didnt want to do our business since the stuff we are doing is so little lol. The only thing we are allowing ourselves to splurge on is the feature wall for the living room. The quote we got was only about $1.1k for that. The tv consoles that we saw at furniture shops already cost around $599 and above. Total cost for all the minor renovation works should be less than $2.5k.
The electrical works will start this thursday and plastering on friday. Crossing my fingers that reno will turn out ok hah.

Finally got our keys to our new place on 11.11.11
Interesting isnt it? We seem to have an affinity with 1, our wedding was held on 1.1.11.
We intend to do just some mino reno ( repainting, buy some basic furniture) and we shd be done. Our budget is not v high since we used up our savings for the house. But it's ok we will slowly get there!
